  • What is improvisation theatre?

Improvisation Theatre (aka ‘Improv’ or ‘Impro’) is the art of acting without script or props. Players spontaneously develop characters and stories starting from input given by the audience or the moderator. They use their own creativity and the imagination of the audience to set the stage. The thrill is in not knowing how it will end!

Improvisation Theatre follows some basic rules:
    · Listen to your fellow players
    · Take everything you are given, do not deny any of your partners’ ideas
    · Add something new to the current situation/discussion
    · Make your partner(s) look good
    · Be fully concentrated on the present moment
    · Be spontaneous, do not try to be funny

Just as with riding a bike or climbing a mountain, talking about it is no substitute for the experience. You will get a much better sense of it by assisting at an Impro show or taking part in an Impro workshop.

What does Improvisation Theatre have to offer to business?

All skills developed for Improvisation Theatre are transferable to business, both at individual and team levels!
    Improvisation Theatre:
    - Enhances individual presentation skills by strengthening self
-confidence, consciously working on body and voice and the management of one’s own energy...
    - Develops and increases awareness of self and others by identifying sensations, emotions, and raising a sensitivity to body language
    - Promotes meaningful interpersonal communication by sharpening listening skills and demanding clarity
    - Enables more effective teamwork by developing trust, increasing cooperation and fostering initiative
    - Facilitates change by training adaptability and building confidence in the unexpected
    - And finally, it relieves stress through movement and fun
